Reckoning

The lowest of the low that is how Harry felt that day. The last draw was when they received an eviction notice and closure of their property. His mum got arrested for prostitution charges and allegation of using the property as a brothel. Harry was eighteen without money, without school, without support, his grandparents did not want anything to do with him he was totally alone and homeless. He decided to end it.

The Suicide Scene

He was firm in his decision enough was enough. The day of his eviction came and he had nowhere to go accept to escape the life he was living. The only answer he thought was making sense was for him to just fade away and die. He took some painkillers to numb himself grabbed a cable extension cord tossed it around the staircase banister securing it, he grabbed a chair and climbed standing on it. He put the extension loop around his neck took a long breath and whilst exhaling he kicked the chair and let himself go. He felt all the mix emotions rushing in all at once the frantic panic and fear of death closing in on him which later was replaced by a serene and peaceful feeling that the weight of the world has been lifted. He drifted out of consciousness becoming ever so lighter. The eviction officers were scheduled to arrive on site in the afternoon but due to their schedule changes they were at his property earlier. They saw him hanging from the back window and they called in an ambulance and broke in to give first assistance and CPR.

Road to recovery

Harry was still alive but unresponsive was rushed to the hospital and stayed in a coma for a month. Whilst being in a coma he was being taken cared of by a female nurse who felt pity for him that no one used to visit him. Her name was Madison She visited him daily talking about her personal life to him as if he was listening to her but she knew that he could not reply. He was showing positive signs and was responding well to the treatment, he woke up from coma and there was the nurse at his side. They became good friends for once in his life Harry found someone that could listen to him. He was starting to come back to life regaining his strength and their relationship grew even stronger. The nurse helped him realise that everything happens for a reason and the fact that he did not die and was saved means that there is something greater stored for him. The nurse helped him find a temporarily home managed by an NGO’s and Harry went back to study. Madison and Harry went their separate ways, Harry graduated as a Lawyer.
